A performance by Belfast based artist Phil Hession.

” The piece Blood Drops in Snow is a performance of traditional song recital accompanied by multi channel video. The videos range from ripped clips of amateur versions of the songs from Youtube to clips from my own archive, showing extracts from collected folk song to observational footage. Certain clips are selected to give moments of harmony to the live song and others to be discordant and provide a tension to the work.
The intention is to add another layer of meaning to the songs rather than a visual representation of the lyrics, creating a dialogue between the videos audio & visuals and the live song in an attempt to provide new versions of the traditional songs.”
